Thomas E. Henry, Special Trustee
Thomas E. Henry was appointed interim special trustee for the Compton Community College District (CCCD) on Sept. 9, 2011, by the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges, Jack Scott. With 34 years of experience in public administration, and more than 24 of those years focusing on work with state and national policy makers, Henry is highly regarded as a fiscal management expert. Thomas Henry is president and CEO of the Education Management and Assistance Corporation (EdMAC), which provides education management assistance to public education entities.
Most recently, Henry served as special trustee at Solano Community College where all Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) sanctions were removed in January 2011. He is also the current Special Trustee for Lassen College, which also has been removed from ACCJC sanctions under his leadership. Henry presently serves as fiscal adviser for the Peralta Community College District, which has moved from ACCJC sanctions of probation to an improved level of warning. In addition, Henry served for several years as the CEO of the state of California’s Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT).
From 2006 to 2007, Henry held the position of Special Trustee for the CCCD. His familiarity with the District will be an asset in positioning the District to support the academic programs and student services of the El Camino College Compton Center, as well as bringing fiscal stability to the Compton District.
Henry holds two master’s degrees, one in Public Administration and the other in Special Education. In addition, he is credentialed in Secondary and Special Education, as well as Administrative Services. His past experience in education also includes superintendent positions in three unified school districts.
